One Monday July 25, 2011 the Nickel Plate #765 was homeward bound. It had pulled an excursion from Rock Island to Bureau, IL on Friday July 22nd and been on display in Rock Island for the weekend. On Sunday evening the locomotive and 4 passenger cars left Rock Island and steamed up to Peoria, IL.
On Monday morning it was rumored that #765 was going to be pulling a freight train on the TP&W as it headed home. However due to logistics of switching the train it was just the locomotive and 4 cars.
