This is great stuff - NOT! NS finally comes back to the fold after a 20-year absence. It’s good to know that the locomotives and facilities being used are owned by other entities so they can’t be “stuffed and mounted” like 1218 and 611 or torn down like the Birmingham roundhouse were back in the 1994. How long before NS gets tired of this and quits again? Recalling the cab sign on the photo of 611 in the TRAINS article announcing the previous demise - “I was born a thoroughbred of steel, made to ride the rails. Forgive them Lord they know not what they do”. Their current efforts, in light of their previous shut-down, are suspect, to say the least.
In any event, I’m glad TVRM is getting the business maintaining the bulk of the fleet - they’re a great organization.
I would love to see some Memphis, Tennessee trips in the future when the 4501 is ready to roll. We are steam starved in Arkansas. Thank you Norfolk Southern.
