Does anyone know what the future plans are for NS 999? I recently saw a photo of it in the shops a few months ago, with the long hood painted with primer. Is it going to kept as an battery powered locomotive, or converted back to a Diesel-Electric? I remember reading that the test results were not what NS hoped for, and that it has just sat around in the shops. Are they hoping to upgrade it, or abandon the program?
The unit was being upgraded with new batteries. The hood has since been repainted and it has just been placed back in service for testing.
