NS has a lot of renumbers on older paint schemes. You could think about that.

Assuming you are talking about the more recent Norfolk Southern, this website

… suggests that they rostered both MP15s and SW1500s. Atlas has an MP15DC now in NS precursor Southern Railway livery. This is a farily new model and NS might be a scheme they will do eventually or the model could be repainted into NS colors. Of course, a Southern unit could run as-is, depending on your era, as there was a time when both paint schemes were present.

Lifelike has made a SW1200 that might be a stand-in for the SW1500s. Not sure if it has ever been done in NS.

Con-Cor also recently released an MP-15, but it’s not DCC-ready as the Atlas is and generally appears to be a bit less well-detailed. Con-Cor also sells something labelled a SW-1200 but it’s actually not a model of any known prorotype and for that reason many people would avoid it.

Depending on your era, you could check out one of the Atlas RS ,GP or FM units to do your switching. They make very fine models. You may find something in NW or southern paint.

Another thought, in modern day it seems to me that many older diesels that in their heyday were high class road diesels have been relegated to switching duties. My thought was, if you are interested in BIG power, have capable curves, and enjoy the present day, you may want to look at smaller locos like GP-40’s as switchers and and instead by large power. Just my 2 cents, both options are great, just throwing something “else” into the mix.

Id go for the MP15 but yoshi is right
