Not your ordinary wheel cleaning session!

I just spent a half hour cleaning the frosting out of one of my freight cars.

It all started when my wife wanted to borrow one of my freight cars to put on the cake for a party. I agreed and turned one over to her, thinking it would be easy enough to rinse off when I got it back.

Wrong!

I should have taken the trucks and couplers off! In additon, it was there was some kind of greasy substance in the frosting. I had to completely disassemble the car, coupler pockets, and trucks. Everything had to be washed with soap, water, and a toothbrush.

Ya know. when they say needle point axles, that’s exactly what they mean! Them babies will poke your fingertips without a moments hesitation.

PS The party was a lot of fun.

Well, look at this way… Your trains help to earn there keep!

I hear ya on the axles… man, dont step on one… It will put ya through the roof.

A lot of cake frosting is made with shortening and powdered sugar. Try to imagine setting your car in a can of Crisco. Now, you have an idea of why it was so hard to clean.

Sort of makes you wonder if the trucks left any “tracks in the frosting” to aide with digestion? On the bright side one cars set of trucks is “clean”!

You can rest assured THAT car is clean. I hear you on those wheel sets. Them babies is sharp. I use one two simulate rivet heads in plaster molds. Does a good job! Hey, next time, just have a train going around the cake. Lots less hassle.
