NOW THAT'S JUSTICE!!!!!

This happened to a CSX crew going through Chicago Heights, IL about two weeks ago. As the train approached a crossing in Chicago Heights the crew noticed not one, but two cars trying to go around the gates. Only one problem, two cars cannot go around crossing gates in opposite directions at the same time!!! Well, there is now a head on collision right in the middle of the tracks with a train approaching. The two drivers (no passengers) are fine, get out of their cars to argue at one another. Instead of looking down the tracks at the oncoming train and moving their cars, they decide to continue agruing. Well, too late for the cars, the train can’t stop in time and now both cars are totalled, no injuries (except for the cars). In my eyes, stupid is as stupid does. Both those idiots got exactly what they deserved. They both ended up with $500 tickets for going around the gates and they lose their cars!!![:D] And best yet, the crew didn’t have to experience any unnecessary loss of life.

The only thing that could improve on that would be to hear that neither insurance company was going to pay on the claim!

Tree, that would be perfect!!!

Serves them right, and yes Larry, one would only hope insurance co.
would not pay off on that. I’m not sure you can get insurance for stupidity.

However, I see a VERY interesting ‘court case’ in the near future.

$500 fine not enough, should be $5,000 [;)]

Now how badly were the locos damaged if any, and can the RR sue the two idiots for their stupidity?

That is SSOOOooo funny. Glads those idiots at least had the 2 brain cells necessary to get out of the way. At least the crew (assume it wasn’t you) didn’t have to suffer from seeing a person disappear under the nose.

I hope the RR sues for the time lost (stop and inspect for damage, maybe they had to wait for the car inspector to drive out and walk the train, that made the crew hit the hog law, a second crew’s time and transportation of the crews back and forth. This could add up!)

An honorary Darwin Award???

That was so funny I laughed my @$$ off.[:D][:D][:D]

Mike

An “honorary” Darwin Award? They ARE the award.

All i can add is"Duuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh"

Very, very funny story!!! That’s about as good as it gets! Too bad that nobody caught the incident on video!

Made my day My only question is, who won the arguement?

It had to be the train !!!

Does the railroad get an atta-boy for clearing the accident site in a big hurry?

The railroad WILL be sending someone a bill…

Very funny! They got what they deserved. I think that fine should have been much higher than it was though.

Today has to be the first day of the month of stupidity.I cannot think of anything that scares me more then seeing any vehicle cut across the tracks as heard too many horror storys of tanker trucks and crews burning to death.these two idiots should be made with the driving permits in the air tell others the whys not.we as a whole need to be alert at all times when it comes to safety.stupidity has no humour
as someone is hurt in ways pain has no meaning.

Think safety always and enjoy the rails.

Were the cars involved a couple of beloved Low Riders? I was waiting for you to say they shot one another after the train hit their cars…blaming one another for THAT TOO!

I can believe it. I already knew that the public was that stupid. You don’t have to tell me twice.
But that…That was just to damn funny.
I can imagine what the train crew was thinking at the time.
BNSFfan.

I’m sure neither insurance company will pay off on this sort of claim. Not with tickets issued for violation RR ROW…

Now all we need is the film clip…
