NS has put an ad on several local radio stations here in indiana stating it is illegal to walk on the tracks, and they would be fined and or arrested, I don’t know if its in responce to the recent lawsuit but they are sure putting the word out

NS is running an institutional ad in the outer reaches of the NYSSR, proclaiming railroads to be the most cost effective means of moving large quantities of freight. The trespassing ad has not aired here–yet.
NS had an ad on WLS radio in Chicago this morning.
They used a train’s air horn to procliam themselves the future of transportation.
I’d bet most people didn’t have a clue what the commercial was about.
This was the Ad they are running here on WBEN.
Norfolk Southern is running their Future of Transportation radio ads here in the L.A. area, too.
Why is this railroad advertising so far out of its operating territory? Is this in anticipation of a pending merger with BNSF?
No, it’s just a national advertising campaign by a company that wants to position itself and its industry in a favorable light.
Nothing wrong with that. In fact, it’s kind of refreshing.
They know they aren’t going to influence many, if any, shippers to “route NS” with radio ads. They’re trying to create a favorable image of the railroad industry and themselves. Good for them.
I agree. It’s good to hear a railroad trumpeting its virtues, instead of acting like a thief trying to sneak into your house without you noticing. As you said, good for them.
