DAMN!
I am going to predict NS will cave to the money.
This is bad. Get your NS pictures now folks.
Patience all my panicking friends, you have to be respectful and courteous in business before you tell someone to go jump in Lake Superior. I predict that this will be rejected and CP will come back at least one more time and BNSF will make a competing bid and then it will get interesting.
Woh! Drumroll!
I still say the only way this goes away is for the Canadian and American governments to tell Hunter an adamant and unanimous “NO!!”
The dirty little secret in all this is ‘why?’ There exists no apparent rationale for the CP’s pursuit of NS. If one lived in the Soviet Union or today’s Russia, the conspiracy theories would be countless, but yet the question remains.
So, what is your conspiracy theory, Mr. Larson?
Perhaps Hunter is just looking for big game.
The article does not spell out who that bunch of lawyers is working for, but that many ambulance chasers suggests there might be a train wreck about to occur.
I’m going to predict that if any merger is to happen, KCS will get some BIG trackage rights. The surface board will not let KCS be the last stand alone company, especially since they are the smallest of all.
I could see KCS getting rights to Chicago because Chicago-Kansas City is one of few markets where NS and CP overlap.
Coal vs. Intermodal profit margin.
