I recently purchased a Stewart Hobbies HO FT A/B unit. The “A” unit has a location to install a number board that will be illuminated from the back. However, no number board (or material to make one) was provided. This is a B&M locomotive which used white numbers on a black background. Does anyone sell HO number board or is there a way to make your own?
Wow, that’s surprising. Contact Stewart and see if they have them available. Tell them your situation as I’m sure your unit was expensive. My Stewart F7 came with number boards. Let us know what Stewart tells you. They usually try to satisfy customers.
Details West #235-165 F unit Number Boards, but I think these may be solid and not see thru.
Hope this helps!
My Stewart FT’s came with decal sets that included both opaque and translucent number sets. Request them from Stewart, eh? I really like mine and have converted 3 units to DCC powered with another B unit all sound. Terrific!
I will check with Stewart regarding number boards and post their reply. I also converted this unit to DCC with sound using a Soundtrax decoder. I was able to fit the 1/2" speaker in the rear of the “A” unit. It doesn’t have the volume of a BLI unit, but it’s not bad.
Great!
Which horn sound did you select?
Antonio:
I am not sure which horn I received. I took the decoder that my LHS owner recommended. He is quite knowledgeable regarding B&M prototypes. I did set it for 3 chimes using the CVs.
I did email Stewart regarding the missing items and received a quick response. I’ll let you know if they deliver.
I bought my Stewart FTs before the recent sale of Stewart Hobbies to Bowser, and they did not come with number-board decals. However, Microscale has a decal sheet specifically designed for these units, the no. 87-794 EMD FT number board set.
Good luck,
Andy
My Stewart F7 came with number boards but no lenses or numbers just black inserts with holes for wiring. I printed my own numbers on my inkjet and cut out clear plexiglass to fit the housings and lit them with GOW bulbs from behind. See pics at my Webshots site. I also installed DCC and LED’s & fiber optics for headlights and Classification lights.
