O in HO caboose ground throws

hi,

is anyone using O scale caboose ground throws on their HO layout and if so do you have any pics to post i may look at. i’ve read/heard/been told somewhere that these O scale throws dont look that much out of scale and are a lot easier to operate. havent found any articles in search. i may have overlooked it in my search on this site. I like the idea of throwing my own turnouts. i believe the one in HO is 202S and the equivilent in O is 208S. the ho has .190 travel and O has .280 travel. would this .090 difference in travel have a non-working compatibility even though they are both sprung?

I think its more frequent that HO scale modelers would try to use N scale ground throws so the are less out of scale on the large side. I found the N scale throws to not have enough throw for Atlas customline turnouts. The HO’s were just right, with placement of the throw still pretty critical to ensure both extremes were reached. With the extra .090 inch throw, you may need to make sure there is an additional spring in the system to handle the overtravel so the turnout is not damaged.
