Entry level jobs are typically unrewarding. Wish I could blame my working misfortunes on the color of my skin.

Entry level positions are tough especially relating to railroading. I wish I could blame my many career misfortunes on the color of my skin, lack of hair, etc…

There’s that number again, 11 this number shows up quite often in news stories.

One time would have done it!

I worked for Amtrak as a Apprentice Signal Maintainer on the Caltrain line, we worked hand in hand with all types, creeds, colors. Railroading is a tough job and washes most people out within the first 6 months, this story sounds like greed and ambulance chaser attorneys looking for money with a class action lawsuit, especially in Oakland.

As an Australian tourist I have noticed on many occasions that the lower paid African American workers at Amtrak have a attitude problem and it is not only directed towards Caucasion passengers but to their own countrymen and women Chicago Union Station Luggage room in August amazed me at the contempt that was shown to passengers in regards to late running and passengers luggage that had gone missing

The whole thing sounds like a bunch of “Professional Victims” at work, know what I mean?

I am disgusted with the dismissive remarks made by all of the responders to this article. Institutional racism does exist in numerous places in this country and may be present in the Oakland station or else there would be no court filing. I can assure all of you that it is not fun challenging business or government entities when an injustice has been done. None of the responders to the article nor do I know of the facts in this case. That is for the court to decide. Not us.
