Old Brass Spare Parts

My circa-1967 H0 scale brass PFM 2-8-0 ATSF 1950-class steam engine
needs a new smokebox front, complete of curved handrail w/stanchions,
round number board & headlight w/bracket.
Could anyone be so kind to help me to find out a source for these parts?

Roberto:

I remember the PFM ATSF 1950 class 2-8-0 very well. That was a sweet, sweet engine. But good luck finding parts. You ought to be looking for someone else willing to part with theirs. You could then cannibalize the two for parts. Of course, Murphy’s Law says that they will both be missing the same essential part.[sigh]

Roberto,
If you can’t find a source for Pacific Fast Mail parts, you may want to investigate what Precision Scale Co. Inc. has to offer:
http://www.precisionscaleco.com
Unfortunately, they don’t have all 17,000 of their detail parts illustrated on their Web site yet, so you may have to order their Steam Locomotive catalogue. WIth luck, the Euro exchange rate will have the effect of lowering the price to you. You can try sending them an Email for their suggestions, but I have no idea how promptly they will respond. You’ll probably have to form the handrail from brass wire to fit their stanchions or stanchions you unsolder from the PFM smokebox front.

Your best bet is to contact Greenway Products. They have a small line of their own brass steam detail parts, but whenever I see their booth at train shows (Trainfest, mostly) they’ve got a HUGE selection of brass importer overrun parts, including major subassemblies (I’ve picked up a couple of entire ATSF pilot assemblies from them). If they don’t have what you’re looking for, then head to Pre Scale (but be prepared to wait months for the parts you’ll order!)
