Old Glory and the Day Bud

This train is called the Day Bud as part of its duties include switching the local Budweiser plant. It doesn’t usually get big SD70ACes (it’s a switcher job), but it did last Sunday, making for this interesting mirror view of Old Glory.

Nice Catch!

Nice Charles !!! Brings back memories. I lived about 1/4 mile south of the brewrey for many years and would often hang out at there watching the switcher work between mainline trains. Often this engine

At this spot, looking east under the I-405 before Metrolink:

And looking west after Metrolink added a second track to CP Raymer. The Day Bud is working on the right and Amtrak is waiting on the left for the eastbound Beet train (center) comming off the Coast line.

Next best thing to being there! Thanks, Chad. - a.s.

Those are very cool images, Chad. I had a bedroom with a view of the Coastline way back in 1985, in North Hollywood (on Laurel Canyon). But that was in my non-railfanning period. I saw so many trains, but didn’t shoot a single one. Man, do I regret that now.

I know what you mean Charles. I lived there for 6 years in two time periods and though I have thousands of photos from all the places in so Cal where I hung out, I probably have less then a dozen of “my own back yard”. Part of that is because when the detector at 451.3 went off I had just enough time to get to the tracks (If I bolted straight out the door) to see the lead engine pass by (Haskell st.) and I knew I wouldn’t have time to set up a shot. And if it was a passenger train (60Mph instead of 40) I had no chance.

EL - Very nice catch!

The rest are neat, as well.

I was at Vandenberg AFB for a year, right on the coast line. I got an occasional picture, but far from what I could have, for sure.
