I have a set of slot cars and track from 30 years ago. I would like to add to the fleet of trucks and sedans to add to my slot track connection between two cities on my HO layout. Does anyone knopw if, and where trucks and passenger cars (not race cars) are available? Bob
Check on E thing. I have a '50’s style Good Humor truck, and remember seeing other trucks, but I don’t think any are currently made. They also used to make a RR/road crossing if you want to stage a real accident!![8D]
I recall both Tyco and Aurora having those cars out. Had alot of the cars ,but no trucks.
Just remember that the HO slot cars are not 1/87 scale but 1/64 scale. They may look a little funny if you are looking for exact scale. But I do remember running both my slot cars and my trains at the same time and staging accidents LOL but that was when I was young and the trains were only Tyco’s.

I’ve seen an HO semi truck racing set, but as mentioned, they are bigger than 1/87.
I collect and race slot cars. Like everyone has said, they are not really HO scale. Ebay is a great place to pick up slot cars. Most of the cars available are performance oriented cars like Corvettes and Trans Ams but I see the odd truck or VW on there that might fit into your plans as well.
Many have been reproduced by a company called “Johnny Lightning”. In addition they made a few new body styles including a 1969 Chevette, and a 1972 Mustang. They were selling them in Hobby Lobby stores for about $16. I haven’t seen any recently in my local HL.
I have not seen anyone reproducting the AFX trucks though.
I am sooooooo glad someone brought up slot cars. I love those things. The only way to connect slot cars and train track is to buy a tyco road and rail joiner. the slot car track will conect and so will the train tracks. it is just like a rail road crossing. but you must make sure you have tyco track. Aurora made a crossing but it was only for one set and it did not connect to normal track. It was made for the set that came with the very rare greyhound bus set. I think that is all you need to know…o wait cars…well lets see if you want a town to run right you will need
a batmobile,aurora
a ford pickup,aurora
hot rod,aurora
a jaguar,aurora
a good humor truck,aurora
and maybe even a u-haul truck if that guy on ebay is still makin um.
Thanks, everyone of the nostalgia crowd of old slot car fans. I will try out Johnny Lightning, EBAY, and Model railroad shows, to see if I can get additions to my trucks and passenger cars. The ones that I have, seem to be HO scale. I am attampting to do something that will be a little different. The two ends of the 40 ft. of track, form reverse loops by joining half the spliced right side track to what was the left, and wiring the tracks so that the slot cars can go in opposite directions, on the “two lane highway”. What is neat, is how the track fit exactly on my arched girder bridge, spanning the deep gorge. (duplicating the Cape Cod,Mass. bridges, in reduced form) [img]

Who made your slot cars? I f aurora made um no need to splice track get the switch track they made
RE: Slot Cars
We also like the slot cars. We’ve had the “HO” slot cars on the perimeter of part of the layout. They are big comared to real 1/87 so I don’t have them as part of scenery. Sometimes they are the main attraction for guests to race them. The current slot cars are 1/64 most of mine are Tomy but some tyco and lifelike, but the ones in the 1970s by aurora ‘model motoring’ were smaller than 1/64 I think, but a little bigger than 1/87.
Scaleauto is a place that has slot car info and various track http://www.scaleauto.com/
I have one video of the slot cars on my layout. http://www.doe.mtu.edu/~ehgroth/website/movies/index.html http://www.doe.mtu.edu/~ehgroth/website/index2.html
An ask.com, yahoo, or google search for “Model Motoring” might also help in your search.
It also depends on what aurora you are talking about. AFX,model motoring. They are really different. it also depends on what kind of track you have. Aurora made mos tof there stuff in model motoring. Be sure to get that cobbblestone track.
