Old style RR Right of Way wire fence

I need to model (HO) a couple feet of old “woven wire” ROW fence. My understanding is that it is woven with a slightly lighter gauge wire than chain link fence and it is in a rectangular pattern (unlike chain link which is a diamond pattern). I have seen this in other place, like around 1920s State historic sites, and it often has a looping top row as a sort of decoration where the verticals are bent back down into the weave. I have a kit for chain link and have built some decent looking scale fencing, but do not want to use that for the ROW fence. But I have not seen any alternative. Any suggestions?

Either fiberglass or aluminum screen should work. The mesh is square along the edge, and the edge is looped as well. The center part of the screen will be “waste” as far as the fence goes, but it can be used as scenery backer. The posts can be brass or alum rod, and the screen fastened with super glue gel. Good luck![8D]

They’re called tight lock fences.

There’s articles in RMC on making them.
