Older Proto 2000 GP30 - need photo

Our club has tasked me with repairing our GP30. I think at some point someone has switched the wires around and I would like to see a picture of the decoder of an operating engine to check the wiring.

This engine is probably about 14 years old. It has a QSI HO140F34 GP30 decoder in it. If anyone has a picture showing which wires plug into the proper sockets, I would be very grateful if you could post a picture.

Thank you, Joe

Hello, Joe

I recently installed an ESU Loksound5 into a “vintage” L-L GP30:

I’m not sure why you would have difficulty sorting out the wiring. Motor + is on the bottom brush, motor on top.

IIRC, Right rail pickup is through the frame and left from each truck.

If you need further info let me know.

Good Luck, Ed

“Old” here I think is a relative term. I believe the OP is referring to the Walthers version sold factory equipped with a QSI decoder.

I found a picture which show exactly which socker ont he decoder is for which connection (track, speaker, motor, etc) but I cannot post it here because it’s on a competing forum. OP, check your PM, I will link the thread which has the information you need.

Thanks a lot Randy, that was exactly what I was looking for. [:D]

The links I posted were of no use?

The connector locations on the Titan appear to be different than those on the original decoder. Comparing the image from the article I found with the diagrams on Tony’s.
