Olsen's Repair parts Database on CD

Has anyone tried using their train library CD’s? Is it worth the $

Thanks,

Jon

If you need to refer to post war and some tinplate often, then the CD is a value. I bought the CD last year and am glad to have it.

Olsens daughter has tried to keep the web site going, but health issues with her father have diverted attention and sometimes the website goes away For a few months. A day will come when they finally give it up.

Olsen created a lot of his own drawings for prewar Lionel where no real info existed.

Thanks, I was a bit nervous about ordering the CD since it looks like the website has not been updated in a while.

What alternatives are available to Olsens parts lists and the illustrations of the schematics for engines etc?

Greenberg’s repair and operating manual for Lionel trains…

Yes, that is an alternative for the Lionel’s but unfortunately that doesn’t help with the Flyer prewar stuff.

I’m a prewar collector and Olsen’s is invaluable. I was concerned when the database kept becoming unavailable so I bought the CD, and even though it’s still up and running I am glad I did. I also find it helpful that I can print the images from the CD to keep in a binder for quick reference.

So I bit the bullet and ordered it from their eBay store. Estimated delivery date Feb 13th-27th [:^)] What a crazy processing time, glad I’m in no hurry.

Given the fact that Cd’s are fast becomming obsolete maybe someone should post thier latest CD to a web page for instant lookup.

I don’t know if I would do that. Aside from copyright infringement, I know Sharon the owner of the site got very upset when somebody said they copied the site to a hard drive for their own personal use.
