So I’m looking at a Trix 2-8-2, however my DCC is not going to be up for at least another six months, how do these operate in DC and do the sound effects still work? Thanks! ~METRO
Metro,
I have a Trix Mike and enjoy it VERY much. [:)][tup] I’ve only run my Mike in DCC mode so I can’t really answer your questions. Here’s what I can answer for you along those lines though:
- According to the manual, the Trix decoder automatically detects whether your track is DC or DCC. So, it doesn’t appear that you have to switch a jumper around just to run your locomotive in a particular mode.
- The Trix manual states on pg. 4: “This locomotives model comes with an analogue interface plug. When running exclusively in analogue direct current mode (e.g. with controllers that do not supply filtered direct voltages), it may be advantageous to removed the installed multi-train decoder and mount the interface plug in its place.”
The manual that comes with the Trix Mike is pretty spartan, at best. The only real mention about sound is in reference to DCC. I trust someone else will be able to chime in with more info for you.
