Operations day at the Model Railroad Club

Yesterday we had an all-day operations day at the Mon Valley Model Railorad club in Morgantown. Well over 25 people participated. We did timetable operations and ran passenger trains, though freights, coal extras, locals and turns. The members who really know railroad operations set it up with a dispatcher and with all the paperwork dated Jan 2, 1953.

I learn a lot about how real railroads operate and during the session, I managed to get the crack passenger train suck in a tunnel with a power failure and have to be towed to the yard, overran a flagman from a local that was switching and manage to jam a scheduled through freight with my extra by not looking at the timetable. Fortunately the freight train was late getting started and we didn’t end up with a corn field meet. Instead of getting fired, I was promoted to passenger engineer! A great time was had by all. - Nevin

Nevin, Great to hear!

Imagine how the situation wouuld have been if it was real life…

Yep there’d have been a cover up and you’d have been promoted right to the top of the tree!!

Ian

Sounds like it was alot of fun.

LOL may that is why they made me the engineer on the crack afternoon passenger train, it was all part of the coverup. Even more protoypical than I thought. - Nevin

Hey Nevin
This world is really small. We at JMJK also run timetabel operation on Monday… with paperwork dated 1953! We had a wester railroad theme. Much SP Black widow loco´s. My highlight was when we “dubbelheaded” 2 BLI Cabforwards with a long string of PFE reefers and they have to work hard up the hill from “Devils Gap”. That was great sound.
