Several days ago, I was looking at an e-tailers website and saw a Milwaukee Road Hiawatha set from Fox Valley. Apparently this set has been issued to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the streamlined Milwaukee Road 4-4-2. Even though I don’t model this era or locale, I’ve always thought that was on of the best looking of the streamlined steamers and I considered adding it to my collection anyway. Today I was in my LHS and they had the same set on sale for a little bit more but probably after S&H was figured in, it would be about a wash. I was told the loco was DCC ready. The problem is, I know nothing about the Fox Valley company and the quality of their products. How good is their product line and is it worth laying out over $500 plus the cost of a sound decoder to get this loco and 6 passenger cars.
I have purchased eight (8) N scale boxcars from them directly and like their product.
I bought eight of their N scale boxcars and was surprised how nice they were. I can’t comment on their loco’s as I don’t own any.
I have not yet bought any of their products but took a close look at their Hiawatha set the other day at a local retailer. It looked really wonderful. The individual cars were well done. I wish now I had asked the store to demo the locomotive but didn’t because I knew I wasn’t going to buy it that day.
I would love to hear a review of someone who has bought the set.
