The wife and I do a lot of online buying, however, sometimes I still try to resort to finding what I want at a retailer. When will I learn?
Yesterday I ordered an assortment of SM resistors and some other bits From Digi-Key in Thief River, Minnesota. I received it today 21 hours later, an hour S.E. of Vancouver for an $8.00 shipping fee. I couldn’t even drive to the nearest store and back for $8.00 never mind into Vancouver to the store that would have ordered the stuff for me. WOW! is all I can say.
Please, no PMs on why I shouldn’t buy from a foreign country. I am delighted.
Good to hear some good news about a retailer, for a change.
Don’t tell anyone but you can get free shipping.
From their website: “* When a check or money order accompanies your order, Digi-Key pays all shipping and insurance (our choice for method of shipping) to all addresses in the U.S. and Canada.”
Some years ago when I built a lot of electronics products, I bought from them and Mouser Electronics, paper catalog days. Catalogs where huge. Maybe two inches thick. Delivery was prompt.
I’ve had the same excellent service from Digi-Key. I’m pretty happy with Amazon’s delivery too. As a member of Amazon Prime, shipping on most of my Amazon orders is free.
I could comment on other delivery services too but let’s not turn Brent’s positve thread into a bunch of nasty complaints.[:-^]
I sent an E-mail to Digi-Key thanking them for their outstanding service and got a nice reply from them, sounds like they probably don’t get too many thank you’s.
We order just a ton of stuff from Amazon and a lot of it comes the same day. Sometimes we get two trucks a day which is silly, but that’s the way it works. We have Prime which includes their streaming video service. The kid was in three of their TV series and they pay really well. We at least get to see him in these shows as we would never subscribe to it as we just wouldn’t watch it. I can’t wait for drone delivery. I can see it now, a flying thing dropping into the yard full of Golden Retrievers.[(-D]
