I joined the Orlando Society of Model Railroaders 10 years ago right after they had moved to their current location. Most of the benchwork was up and we had one loop running. Today the layout is about 90% complete and in my opinion one of the best looking club layouts I have seen. I will post a few pics here and more can be seen by visiting my photobucket account.
SWEET !!!
Just wish you were closer to my neck of the woods [sigh]
Are you the club at Silver Star Rd. and John Young Pkwy?
That third picture is great. I’ve been working on a transition from a big city to a yard, this is a big help.
No, we are the club just east of Winter Park on Aloma Ave. Anyone interested in visiting can do so on Tuesday evenings between 6:00PM and 9:00PM. There is usually someone there on Saturday mornings from 10:00AM to about 2:00 PM.
I’m just getting ready to move to The Villages. Does your club have a website? Also do you hold any scheduled open houses?
We do have open houses from time to time but I am not aware of any currently on the calendar. There is a web page (actually 2) but to be honest I’m not sure what information is given. One member of the club runs the model trains department at Colonial Photo & Hobby in Orlando and he would be able to pass on open house information.
Are you guys near UCF?
Yes, from UCF you would come west on University Blvd to Goldenrod Rd. and turn right, then go to the next traffic light (Aloma Ave.) and turn left. There is an Auto Zone parts store on the left and you have to go a little ways past that to make a U-turn and then take the driveway fust before the Auto Zone bact to a little commercial center. OSMR is the next to last space.
BTW I graduated from UCF in 1972.
Bob, where is the link for your Photo Bucket account?
Ken, here is the link to my photobucket account set to my layout album. You should be able to navigate to mt other albums from there.

Im attending UCF in the Fall as an aerospace engineering student, once I get settled Id like to try and join the OSME if possible?
I’m sure you will be welcomed as a new member. The dues are kinda stiff at $25/mo. but it isn’t too bad when you consider the price of other intertainment.
