Oscar Mayer hotdog car 1/48 scale?

Does anyone make this in 1/48, 1/50, or 1/43?

Here is mine & I really don’t know what scale it is, maybe 1/64 or smaller. but it seems to work ok here !! It says on the bottom "Oscar Mayer 1993 " & made in Thailand. I can’t seem to find any other ones bigger either !!

Thanks, John

WOW…If anybody knows a source for those, let me know. I have always wanted to go for a ride in one. Entered a contest once, for a ride in Weinermobile. Then, I found out, it was for only up to 8 years old. I was 55. Oh, well.

There used to be a lady from Michigan who put together flat cars with various loads. One of the loads was the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile. She used to attend the train shows in Columbus.

I wanted to be funny with this post but Chucks response takes the cake.

But here goes anyway.

  1. What does this picture have in common with the Wienermobile ?

or

  1. Provide a caption for this picture.

Buckeye : what scale do you think hers were ? !!

Thanks, John

Really ?..Does she still attend??

I can’t remember the Weinermobile scales, but she sold train cars in N, HO and O. She might be at the show next Saturday in Columbus.

Maybe she goes to York.

The ones she was selling was 1/24 cars on an O gauge flat car. Way oversize for O gauge.

With all my looking, I have not found one in O gauge (1/43 thru 1/50) scale. If someone does find one, please let me know.

Here is a link to a 1/64 version of the Weinermobile. The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan has the full size version on display. I have not seen one in 1/48th size.

This streamlined 1980s version of the world’s most famous “product mobile” (a vehicle that looks like the product it’s advertising) is made exclusively for The Henry Ford by Mattel®, the manufacturer of other Hot Wheels® toy cars. These 1:64 scale die-cast cars have become very popular with collectors in recent years. The Hot Wheels Wienermobile is a later version of the 1952 Wienermobile on display at Henry Ford Museum. 3" l x 1" w x 1 1/4" h.

John - Thanks for posting that picture. The Hotwheels size may be ok as a golf cart size diplay in a park. I have seen these with little kids driving what must be a go kart. Maybe I could find the right size hot dog in a craft store and kitbash one from an older diecast car. I don’t think the one I remember from the 50’s, 60’s had such large windows.

Chuck - I did get a ride in the original. My scout troop took over the town for a day, and I was the Mayor. (wanted to be police chief, and ride in the police car) I met the Oscar Mayer Chef who gave me an official Weinermobile whistle. I rode in the hotdog until I found out the mayor was in charge of the police chief. Then I got my ride in the 66 Pontiac Interceptor.

Thanks, Ken

Paul, my answer for #1, they were both more popular in the 70’s. Answer for #2, “You want me to put a batting helmet on THIS?”

Well, the guy with the fro is Oscar Gamble.

And here is another Oscar -

Little Oscar!

Thanks for that web-site DSmith !! I found after you click on there, then click on the Henry Ford site & look for Toys & click on that & you’ll get the Weinermobiles !! Only 3.95 for a 1/64th. model. They have a whistle also & then a much bigger one !

Thanks, John

Hot Wheels put out the 1/64 version diecast, available on thru internet auctions, and the Henry Ford site.

Chuck: Drivers are called Hotdoggers; here’s an application. Good luck!

Kurt

Thanks, Kurt. Nice webpage. I flunked. No degree. Can’t drive one… BUT, I could ride in one. Now, if I could get Buckeye to get driver’s job. Then he could pick me up. We could go cruising. To John’s house.

Chuck

Maybe I could drive, I have my CDL ? !! [(-D]

Thanks, John
