Out with Guilford, in with Pan Am Railways

I went to www.guilfordrail.com the other day, and the “Big G” is gone, Replaced with Pan Am Railways and the Pan Am “globe” logo(and a photo of a boxcar painted for Pan Am Railways, with MEC reporting marks). Does this mean we will get a new paint scheme for the motive power too?? If so, knowing Guilford…Er…Pan Am Railways, it will take years before that happens.
Here is a link to a photo of one of those newly painted boxcar that was derailed this weekend. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=139220
Maybe they should spend thier $$ on track repair/replacement instead of on making thier rolling stock look shiny and new!!

Hey, at least if you’re stuck at a crossing, waiting for that train with the 10 mph slow order, you’ll have some pretty cars to look at…

Oh[:0], you mean They have trains that run at [:0]ABOVE[:0] 10 M.P.H!!![:D]
I thought that was kind of like…“Jumbo Shrimp”… an Oxymoron!!

Anything is better than that horrid brown and orange. They mutilated the BnM blue.

Although, that $$ could to to track repairs just as well…

I think the new scheme is sharp, locos would look good with the globe

Blecch! They need to properly resize the logo and images on their website, that looks horrible!

G’day, Y’all,
Did you, by any chance, go to the site on April Fool’s Day?

Heck, that might be the real deal. I saw photos of those blue boxes in a magazine mnths ago. Guess its official now. LOL Your on PAR with Pan Am Railways… Haha I should send that to them.

Its April 3rd and its still there, so this looks legit.

Do the hobos get served peanuts and a soft drink by miniskirt clad hostesses?

It was couple of days before, actually. go to www.panamrailways.com it takes you to the exact same website.

I think the new scheme looks pretty neat actually.

Someone explain to me how Pan Am goes from defunct international airline to regional railroad???

Juan Tripp must be spinning in his grave…

I think there was a blurb about this in trains mag a while back.

If I recall properly, somebody just bought the name…different company entirely.

Thanks, Pan American Railway does have a nice ring to it.

One word for PanAm railways… TURBINE

CC

Original Pan Am goes bust… name bought by regional airline.
Regional Pan Am goes bust… Guilford (always looking for broke companies to buy) buys regional airline.
Guilford decides to screw the unions yet again… Puts “Guilford” on airline, “Pan Am” on railroad…

Gotta love it! [?][?][?]

Now all they need is to gets some new power for thier new scheme maybe a couple dozen new EMD ACes or even some GE GEVO unit or most likely handmedowns from CN! Woundn’t it look great to seem some big Pan Am power on a high speed schrech of track at a whopping 11 miles an hour!!! It gives me goosebumps [^]

[:P][(-D][D)][:-^]-----------------------------------------------------------------------[(-D][wow][(-D][yeah]

[(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D] Please![:p] Juan Trippe is likely to come back from the dead, if only to laugh with a lot of us. But, Guilford badly needed a new image![B)] Problem–THAT ONE?[D)]

Guess they’ll be resurecting something close to Conrail’s BigBlueBomber paint scheme only with the globe logo in lieu of the big C

Maybe I’m prescient? http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=56069
