The City of Keokuk, IA is considering selling their Mississippi River railroad bridge. As an added bonus, a no longer used upper roadway deck provides a beautiful viewing and picnic location.
Would anybody care to venture an estimate of worth?
Sure Pioneer would love to own the bridge - Unfortunately they would have to maintain it (and they do a poor job of maintaining what they own as it is)
Isn’t this the same bridge that was written up in the Wall Street Journal a year or two ago as being an example of, ‘‘The scrap dealers will pay a lot to tear it down, but we want to save it, even though we can’t afford to preserve and maintain it, and no one else wants to buy it’’ kind of dilemma [Q]
