Paasche H Users Question

I’ve had my model H for years and really like it. I just ran across something that has me scratching my head though.

I know the needles and tips come in 3 sizes and you should use the correct #'s together. I didn’t realize there were 3 different size aircap too.[%-)] I’ve been using the one that came on my brush with all 3 needle/tip sizes. Do you folks change to the correct size aircap when changing needles and tips? I’ve never seen these different size aircaps sold anywhere before.

I had forgotten about that, but since I only ever use the #3, I’ve never had to change the aircap (I didn’t even know that that was what it was called) and both my H and VL are a good 20+ years old.

I do have all three aircaps and they do differ in size.

I have a Paasche VL Airbrush.

The aircaps come in 3 sizes (#1, #3, #5) to match the needles. The aircaps can be ordered from Walthers or anyone who handles the Paasche airbrush. I usually purchase spare parts for the Paasche Airbrush at Asel’s here in Dallas, TX.

I’ve just never heard anyone say they change the aircap when they change the tip and needle assembly. I guess I’ll have to get a fine aircap and try it. It makes sense that it would help change the pattern.

When I first got my H set I used the aircaps with the appropriate tips, but as I got to know how the brush worked I started using the aircaps with different tips for each project. The #3 aircap is great for laquers and thinned paint when used with the #3 and #5 tips. I also use the #5 aircap with the #3 and #5 tips for laquers and paints if I’m painting a large area. I seldom use the #1 caps or tips anymore since I have a VL set too. I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to mix-n-match caps and tips as you desire.
