PACE Commuter Scheme unveiled.

(PACE = Pittsburgh Area Commuter Express)

Today at the PACE Facilities the new scheme was unveiled. It is yet to be determined if the Model PACE will be powered by an Athearn Genesis FP-45 or and older model BB FP-45. Fred’s locomotive shop’s financial advisor says that if the Kato WC SD-45 ever get sold, then there will be room in the budget for a Genesis unit. If not, a current V&AL unit will be utilized.

The standard V&AL road scheme:

(MS paint did not accuratly represent the true colors. The PACE scheme is based of BN Cascade Green and Conrail Big Sky Blue. The V&AL scheme is an ATSF blue and C&NW green)

Looks great! I love those FP45s, wish some prototype commuter railroads used them![tup]

Check your PMs, by the way.

I agree Ty. I do love those FP45’s. (As you all know, I’m a BIG steam fan) I like BOTH of those paint schemes. Wish I could paint on trains fairly well.

Okay, I have to tell you…Santa Fe Warbonnet is by far the best looking paint scheme on those locomotives IMO, but those are a close second! [:)]

Can’t wait to see photos of some models in those paint schemes!

I like those schemes.

Have you considered what style and size the locomotive numbers will be for each scheme? (Underneath the cab windows, on the sides, etc)

A GG-1, F-45, FP-45 and an SW-7 are all on the paint table now:

And here’s an E-60, the 1st unit to wear the new Scheme:

I actually realized that I left no provision for the numbers. They will be under the Cab windows, jsut like the numbers on my “dip-job” E-33’s:

V,

Very nice view of your layout and rolling stock. [8D][tup] Can you post some more pictures of it?

That’s actually my motive power on the club layout pulling a train made of equipment from all members. I’m uploading more pics, I’ll post a thread abotu the club in a bit.

But in the meantime, here’s the photobucket link to the Albemarle Model RR Club album with all my pics:

feel free to kick arround the rest of the galleries.

Oh man that is a awesome scheme.

oh, and the KATO WC SD-45 was traded for 2 BB FP-45’s.

Nice layout! Modular, I assume?

yes, we usually set up in an empty store at the local mall once a year. We are in negociations to get a permanent place and have a permanent layout along with the modular.

Nice! We actually have two HO clubs here…one is a permanent layout in a building that the city allows us the use of, and the other is modular. Of course, the clubs pretty much share membership. [:)]
