Time for the next project (or at least prepping for it along with the 7 other ones I have). What are the best colors (in your opinion) to match the colors in the scheme for the referenced engine? I figure that the Tamiya white that I have is probably a good white. The blue and the red have me stumped. The requirements for the paint are as follows: water-based (given I don’t airbrush and live in a northern climate, solvent-based is out), brushable (see previous comment) and easily obtainable. Any help that can be provided will be most welcomed.
I painted my D&H bicentenial with Reefer White (Polyscale), D&H Blue (Modelflex/Badger) and Chinese Red (unknown manufacturer, I think it may have been a craft paint).
D&H Avon Blue is too light for most roads’ bicentennial units. You can try Tamiya X-3 Royal Blue and X-7 Red. They should be close to what BN used. If the blue is too dark, you could add some X-4 Blue.
