I am new to airbrushing even though I have owned one for about 20 years. I saw the video by Gordon Oediger from Model Railroader numerous years ago and can’t find it. I want to use Floquil paints. What is the mixture ratio of paint to thinner. I am going to start by painting brick structures and weathering rolling stock. I am too big of a “chicken” to try this on brass anything. Help, please!![:$] Sorry about the spelling of Gordon’s last name.
I mix floquil 3 parts paint 1 part thinner (floquil thinner) That mix seems to work just fine for me. Good luck, Thayne.
I think most of the thinning requirements for air-brushing are on the paint bottles. I just started air-brushing using Polly-Scale, and it says on the bottle. Have you checked their web site for the mixing ratio?
No, I did not know that there was a website for Floquil. I guess that I should have known since there is a website for just about everything. I tried a 1:1 ratio over the weekend on one side of a building and it came out OK. Not great, but it was OK.[:|]
I have no experience with Polly-Scale paint. How do you like it compared to Floquil paint?
For Air Brushing, I don’t know, since I have not used Floquil in an Air Brush. I do know that you have to use the largest needle / tip for acrylic paints. I like Polly Scale better than Model Flex.
For brush painting, they act very similar.
