Painting Walthers Road System

I just finished installing Walther Asphalt Street System, the roads are a little to glossy and black in my opinion. I want to airbrush them with an aged concrete paint. Do I just airbrush the road surface as is, should I use dullcote to remove the shine from the road surface. What is the proper procedure in this case?

I am just looking for some advice on how to properly paint some glossy black plastic roads

Woodman,

When I did my Walthers brick streets, I built three sections at a time when I could at the work bench…Hand painted the curb and side walk sections after they were glued to the street, than I weathered them with Woodland scenic’s liquid pigment diluted with Denatured Alcohol with a cotton ball, wiping away excess. I then brush painted Dullcote over the whole piece, being careful to go only one way and only one swipe with a 1/2’’ flat Artist brush…anymore and the dullcote will smear any paint or stain you use, when I can, I air brush it on and it won’t smear. The bad thing about the brick system I learned, was that they had switched MFG’s a couple of times and they used different shades of red pellets in the molds and that is what I’m facing now, trying to match 10ft already layed with 6 more feet of a different shade of Red, aarrrhhgg. I think I got it worried though…just something I didn’t count on.

Good Luck! Experiment…I did.

Frank

BTW: You can see the different shade of Red that I have to piece in on this shot. I’m redoing the whole area…a work in progress.

A before pic’.
