Part 2: Hobby anthem

What song would you pick?

I like the country song “The Long Black Train” by Jo***urner Check it out! Lenny [oX)]

I chose Wabash Cannonball but it was a toss up with crazy train. How about “Casey Jones” by Grateful Dead. Or “Hear my Train a Commin” by Hendrix. Or “can’t you see” by the marshall tucker band and then their’s “train” by blackfoot, and …

“Working on the Railroad”

City of New Orleans - Arlo Guthrie

LITTLE TOY TRAINS by Roger Miller

Little toy trains, little toy tracks
Little toy drums coming from a sack
Carried by a man dressed in white and red
Little boy, dont you think its time you were in bed?

Either “City of New Orleans” or “Wreck of the Old 97”

“Train, Train” by Blackfoot. Although “Crazy Train” comes in a close second.

“Hey Porter” --Johnny Cash

“Train Travelin” --Dierks Bentley

Or Jo***urner, as above.

Lately I think this forum’s anthem should be “Everybody was kung fu fighting”

I posted this to the last topic, but there were computer problems and my post never made it. So I say again:

I love “City of New Orleans” by Arlo Guthrie… even though Steve Goodman wrote the song, Arlo put his signature on that one. That’s probably my favorite all around train song.

BUT for the best song for our train hobby, for me it’s the love song that Neil Young wrote for his son, “Transformer Man” off the computerized vocals “Trans” album. “Transformer Man” just hits it right on the head and I love the song.

For those who cringe at the thought of listening to the “Trans” album, there’s a acoustic version of “Transformer Man” on Neil Young’s “Unplugged” album and on the VHS of the MTV show.

Chattanooga choo-choo. Track 29. Glenn Miller would be proud.

“Fireball Mail” by Roy Acuff

“She caught the Katy” as rendered by Jake and Elwood Blues

I say “Train” by Blackfoot or maybe “Kansas City Southern” by Pure Prarie League.

“Train Train”

Blackfoot

I guess I missed Part 1, Hobby Anthem but I would offer Railway to Heaven.
I fondly remember My dad singing tenor in a quartet and that was one of their
favorites.

City of New Orleans - though Transformer Man comes close.

Take The A Train-----Billy Strayhorn

I dare you not to tap you foot while listening [:)]

I personally like City of New Orleans, but sung by Willie Nelson (though Arlo’s version is great too).
