Parts sheet for an Athearn boxcar

I have an Athearn 50’ FMC Plug door boxcar, and I was wondering if anyone has a parts sheet for it.

If anyone doesn’t mind, could someone post a scan of it, or at least the item number of the stirrup steps?

I’m probably going to trade this car off for an Athearn 50’ PS 5277, since the FMC car is dated 8-83, and I model 1970-1980 BN. I just want the part number so I can make a fair deal.

Don’t have it but it should be on the Athearn site somewhere for ordering parts.

I believe the stirrup steps are part of the body casting, but try this one:

HOseeker.net has quite a few of these parts diagrams/kit instructions from several manufacturers available to view or download.

This is the car in question:

I contacted Athearn recently about stirrups for a FMC 5347 (basically same shell but has a standard Youngstown door) as they crack or snap off at the slightest provocation. Their response was they don’t offer them as replacement parts. [banghead] Figures-a part that’s easily broken or lost, & they don’t offer them. (there’s a # of parts available from them that aren’t listed in their online parts list-I have no idea why they don’t show them.) [%-)] You have to contact them & ask.

So I’m gonna have to kitbash one?

Strange they don’t offer them as seperate parts, they do for the PS cars. (I’m looking at the parts sheet)

Not so strange since they’re part of the body casting on this model. This is probably one that dates back to the old days (Made in USA). The ones from the PS car should work for you, or several companies market them as detail parts. One of the complaints from the old days was that these were much too thick and didn’t look realistic. A few companies started marketing them in metal wire or flat bar closer to the right scale size.

Check here at this site, he might have them in PDF format.

Already checked there, nothing.
