Have been working with atlas N scale code 55. Have been disappointed with the turnouts. Have just received first batch of peco code 55 turnouts. Been look for suggestions for joining the Atlas 55 to the Peco 55. Peco had the code 80 profile and have found all kinds of info on joining to code 80. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for this.
How about putting the joiner on the Peco side and then putting the Atlas track ON TOP of the rail joiner and soldering it in place? You might have to flatten the joiner on the Atlas side so that the rail tops line up.
That was my first thought as well. There just isn’t a strong mechanical connection doing it that way. Thought maybe someone had the revealation of the best way to make it work.
Well, your ballast should help a bit in holding things in place. I should have also mentioned that I use caulk to glue down the rails (it’s pretty secure) and you’d want to use jumpers to carry the current in this case.
