Peco Electrofrog Wiring & IRJ

Hello, I was wondering if someone can help me check if this layout diagram wiring is done correctly.

After reading articles, forums and watching a bunch of YouTube videos on how to wire Electrofrogs, I’m still unsure if I got this right. I have several small layouts but most are just in a continuous oval or have one switch, and everything is powered with only one set of feeder wires.

This layout is a small (24"x12") HOe/009/H0n30 layout with Peco SL-E491/492 Electrofrog turnouts. I will mainly run short wheelbase locos (0-4-0 and Speeders) that’s why I opted for the Electrofrog instead of the Insulfrog so there’s no dead spots. It’s going to be DC and I’m not planning to put any point switches, I’ll manually throw it.

Correct me if I’m wrong at these two points:

  • Insulated rail joiners on the frog points is mandatory
  • Put the feeder wires in the correct places
  • The frog is already powered by the stock rails so the wire underneath is not required to use

Thanks!

I thought electrofrogs needed to be gapped on the inside frog rails. Rich to the white courtesy phone.

Yes, those three turnouts are gapped correctly along with the feeder wires.

In my case, I’m using Tam Valley Hex Frog Juicers, which IIRC, requires you snip the wires that connect the points to the Frog. Reportedly the points connection is not 100% reliable.
