Hello everyone and Thanks for your all your help with the last post.
I now have two more questions. First can the Peco switch motors be used with DCC and second I mounted the switch motor under the benchwork so all that is connected to the turnout is the pin thru the tie rod or does the tabs located on the switch motor have to be in contact with the turnout in order for it to work?
Yes, there are DCC stationary decoders that can drive twin-coil switch machines like the Peco.
As for the second, Peco sells an extended mount that can locate the machine under the table. I believe though it still goes under the center of the throwbar, not off to the side.
Another option it to mount it IN the table. Since they clip on the bottom of the turnout, all you have to do is rout a recess in the tabletop to fit the machine in. If it ever needs replacement - clide back the rail joiners for the turnout and lift the whole thing out, fix, and replace.
Oh definitely, do not run them with DCC track power directly.
Although technically, when using a stationary decoder, that’s exactly what you are doing. Some of those do have a connection for an external power source, and the ones that work twin-coil motors mostly have a CD unit built in to the decoder.
