A few days ago I stumbled upon a yard of a short line called the Penn Eastern Railroad, located in Kennet Square PA. There was a B23-7 numbered 5114 still in service and A B30-7 retired and looks to be used for spare parts. What caught my eye is that they are ex-Southern Pacific loco’s with their old paint jobs. They never re-painted them.
Here’s a link to the album. There are additional close ups etc for weathering and detail info if wanted.

Some of the pics: First the B23-7

Caboose and Hopper, both still in use.

Here I am thinking other sites with photos have mixed them up with the East Penn Railroad, turns out the East Penn and the Penn Eastern merged about 3 years ago. Very few of either railroad’s locos are painted out from the former owner - RCT&HS got a former Reading GP-7 from East Penn which was (and still is) painted in former owner MA & PA colors. I’m sort of suprised at the merged company reporting marks - ESPN.

I never knew the yard was there in over 20 years driving through the area. Their office is in a well maintained Kennet Square Train Station. I didn’t take a pic of the building. The Secretary was friendly and had no problem when asked if I could take the pics.

I have seen a few of those up in Quakertown a few years ago along with a Alco RS-1
They also used to operate the line running from Pottstown north to Boyertown .
East Penn / Penn Eastern was bought by Rail America a few years ago.
I found some pics of some of their units up in Bristol, too. Couple of Geep pictures from Pottstown when they ran the line up to Boyertown - they seem to be a little bit of everywhere.

I think their site says they have about 120 miles of track.
