Pay attention: this is a fund-raiser, not a joy ride.
A $1,000 per person, sound a little too much to pay for a ride. $300 to $400 sounds a bit better.

Beautiful locomotive. Also love the simplicity and understatement of that era of liveries. Today’s gaudy multicolor schemes really don’t show rail for what it is.
Today’s big road units may win the functionality prize, but the old E’s win the glamour prize running away - at light speed.
IF a potion benefited the 611, it MIGHT be worth it. This article doesn’t say “how much” is tax deductible either. This will be a lost leader event as a fundraiser. ( For those who do not know marketing, a “lost leader” gets attention and makes NO money, or looses money to get attention/or business to an area) Getting a whole lot of people involved at a much less cost is a winning plan. $1,000 a pop is NOT.
I agree with Michael S. Canova! $1,000.00 would buy me a New DSLR body, or another ‘L’ lens!
$750.00 is tax deductible per NC trans web site.
Another way to separate the “haves” from the “have nots”. I love the old line "diesels’ but to fork over $ 1,000.00 for that “once in a life time” true rail fan excursion is definitely out of my retirement budget.
