On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, I went on what I called a Mister Rogers Road Trip. The first stop on the trip was at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Washington, Pennsylvania, which in a 1984 episode of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood had been the Arden Trolley Museum. It was a fun time not only getting to see the preserved cars but to see them in operation and ride on them.
After the museum closed, I then headed to Latrobe to visit Unity Cemetery where Mister Rogers was laid to rest and then to the Hotel Saxonburg in Saxonburg for dinner, which was where in a 1982 episode of Mister Rogers Neighborhood we were taken to see a restaurant. It was a fun trip, and I hope to make it over there again.
I have been to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum several times. It is great, and it is worth an out of your way to some place else stop to visit it. Make sure you go when the trolleys are running.
