Pere Marquette 1225

I just learned of a Berk numbered 1225. Does anyone have any infromation on this locomotive. Info. , photos, discussion, schedule, etc…

Traingeek087…Pere Marquette 1225 is a locomotive that was on display at Michigan State University for a number of years. The owners of the loco is called the Michigan State Trust for Railway Preservation. It is based out of Owosso Mich in the former Ann Arbor shops ( now owned by Tuscola & Saginaw Bay ). It is run every now and then on a ex-NYC branch. They used to offer the engineer for a hour program, I’m not sure if they still do this on not though.

I just found their web site…www.mstrp.com

gracias yall.

Does it ever run to anywhere esle we need steam in Chicago

DOGGY

I agree, not enough steam action in Chicago. Except for MILW 261.

I, too, think Chicago should be visited by steam at least once a year from both east and west.

But where will you find a willing Class I nowadays? I doubt that CSX, NS, or CN would allow the 1225 to use their rails to get here. And that about covers it, I’m afraid.

(who remembers the 1225 from its days in East Lansing, when some crazy college kids had this idea about restoring it…and the old people who said it couldn’t be done)

CShaveRR, CSX is allowing 1225 on its rails in july to a railfest in Ohio, and to all the old people…IT’S DONE.
