Hey Joe

I wished more people down here in KY would respect the power of the trains and the crews as well. So far this week I have watched 8 people run the flashing lights at the crossing beside our work. Last week the engineer layed on the horn for how close one was. It’s amazing how someone has the b@ll’s to run the crossing but when they see that I saw them they turn their head quickly in embarrASSment. I just wonder why people could put their lives at risk like they do, but everyone now is in a hurry to get nowhere.

We did have in June a car that stalled on the tracks that resulted in 3 fatalities. A mother and her two daughters. Believe it or not, the brother of the girls survived. I have always wondered when someone would get hit by beating the train there but I never ever dreamed that it would ever happen with a stalled car. But I will tell you this that I would not be surprised when the day comes that someone tries to beat the train and loses.

I know that there are many people that have probably witnessed something like this but I cannot figure out that after something like this happens they still have no regard for anything. I have now seen first hand what happens at a crossing in a vehicle/train collision, and let me tell you that you don’t ever forget it. I have much greater respect for life. And I have much more respect for the train crew.

Anyway I was happy to see that you made the picture of the day.

Thanks again for submitting the photo, Joe.

If anyone didn’t see it, you can still see it in the Trains.com Photos, audio & video section. If you ever want to see a past photo of the day, go to that section (it’s under Resources on any page other than the forums on Trains.com) and select Photo of the Day from the pull-down menu.

Yeah Ed, Joe and Nora in one week. What great users I have. [;)]
