Photo's of BLI's Parlor Obs for the 53 Daylight

BLI has posted photos of the Parlor Obs for the 53 Morning Daylight. I must say, the detail rivals Rapido and brass.

Really?

Can it be true?

Nah.

But…

Well.

Possibly.

IS it REALLY an ACTUAL MODEL? A REAL CAR FROM BLI? Can’t be true.

One down, fifteen to go. It’ll look great behind my MTH GS-4 Daylight.

I’m waitin for the BLI daylight with the sales gimmik obs

Be nice, they are only about two years late from the announced delievery date. I’m still waiting for the GN S-2 which is now almost/just over four? years late.

Is this the first Daylight car in HO in an accurate HQ version now? Or have others made Daylight cars in HO? I mean besides Athearn shorties or other foobies.

That’s a nice looking car, and frankly, it’s about time. My sweet Balboa GS-4 has been waiting for a train worthy of it for some years now.

But why do we have to build the Daylight back to front, as it were? That obs is going to look really stubby behind my GS-4 until the other cars are released, however long that takes.

Well, Matt mentioned that the Observation and an Articulated Coach will appear together so at least you’ll have a very short train…

Still waiting for the GS-4 from BLI as well I couldn’t care less which car(s) will arrive first or last…

The first in Plastic. There’s been brass mdels though. I jest because it’s been 2 years, and 3 companies (MTH Athearn BLI) that have announced models (not all at once, but) and this is the first we’ve seen

Did Matt mention if the 53era train was coming soon? Their schedule has the 41era train first and then the 53 era later this year>

Did BLI state that the photo depicts an actual pre-production/production plastic car, or I wonder if that isn’t one of the photos they were originally using of the CIL cars (Challenger)? I think I recall that the CIL cars had shades or blinds though. Hopefully this is the real deal.

Smitty, the car is a production sample. He just indicated in a post on the BLI forum that the cars will start arriving in Aug (41) so that means the 53 cars will probably arrive in Oct. BTW, Coach Yard has again switched the ATSF business cars to TBA. It’s now looking like sometime in 2010 for our business cars.

Hey Charlie, how’s it goin’??

I e-mailed TCY about the biz cars (most specifically in regards to the division super’s car) and he said next year. Of course we have been hearing that for 3+ years now. According to them, the division super’s car has been the most requested car, which is sort of surprising considering the type of car it is. As a matter of fact, here is the e-mail he sent:

Hello - These are the most called for Business cars - it is still scheduled for 2010 - carman

One can only hope!!!

Back on topic, as you described, that car looks awesome. I would imagine there was a lot of intricate tooling to get that thing off the ground in plastic. Now if somebody would get a Budd Sunset Limited consist going in plastic, the world would be a much better place…

Daniel:

I will say that if the BLI Daylight coaches are the equivalent of their CZ passenger cars, there will be a HUGE amount of Happy Campers among we SP fans. Those CZ cars are some of the best cars I’ve ever seen in plastic, beautifully weighted and smooth rolling.

I’ll be looking forward. And thanks for the information that an articulated chair will be released at the same time. I’ll buy two, that way it’ll at least look decent until the other chairs and the 3-unit diner are released. I have a feeling that the lines at my two LHS’s here in the Sacramento Area will extend around the block.

I can agree with that! I have 15 of the BLI California Zephyr cars and the new Daylight cars will be great if they are as good. I grew up in California and live there as a kid thru college years so the Daylight would be hard to resist. Heck, I was tempted to get the Empire Builder but just couldn’t justify it. The Daylight is a little closer to home tho!

TWhite, from looking at the photo of the production sample, the Daylight cars blow the CZ cars away hands down.
