Photos on the forum

Gentlemen,

How does one go about setting himself up to post photos along with the text message when writing to the forum? We’ve all seen certain members who regularly attach photos to their postings. Can any of them give me a hand on setting myself up to do the same?

Walt

You need to have web storage space through your ISP or some other server. Once you upload your photos to that server, you can link to them like this (but without the “*”)

[*img]http://mywebpages.comcast.net/kcstrong/trr/pics/TRR2/Newpilotandboiler.jpg[*/img]

The URL of your particular photo replace the one I have as an example. The above photo will then display like this:

It’s a good idea to size your photos so they’re not too large, say a maximum of 640 pixels wide. This keeps the dial-up people from having to make too many trips for coffee while waiting for the images to download. This forum seems to automatically thumbnail the images to a slightly smaller size, on which you can click to see the full size images.

Incedentally, this same code is used by a number of forums, including MyLargeScale.com, the Bachmann forum, and the Steam in the Garden forum.

If you post a picture vertically (narrow angled), it will not enlarge.

Does anyone know of a place where I could get some webspace for pics? I use Tripod but it desn’t allow linked photos to appear on there forums.

steam in the garden??forum??? Theres that many folks that talk about, live steam?

www.steamup.com , then click on “message board.” The Live Steam forum on MyLargeScale.com is actually a bit more active, but some of the “heavy hitters” from SitG monitor that forum more than the others.

Tom,

Just got back home and found your message. Thank you. I’ve joined Shutterfly and soon will be trying to post a photo with my message, wish me luck.

Thanks again

Hi Old Dad,

That is great.

If you ever visit the CTT forum, you will see many of the pics that I post.
