Piko R5 switch with power motor
The new Piko “weatherproof” electric switch motor appears to be a great improvement on the many LGB ones, in my main yard, that got moisture in them and rusted solid. I thought I had them well drained but didn’t consider the industry of the insect garden dwellers in building leaf dams. Now I will be able to test if I can get control of my points again.
Will the Switch Box work on existing LBG powered switchs.

The way I read this revue is that you need all the listed item to make it work electrically. I know I haven’t bought any switches for awhile, but $170.00 for one switch seems a little excessive to me. Perhaps I am reading this wrong. What about this Kevin. I would like a little more info on this…
There are many options for controlling switches, (switch control boxes, DCC with switch decoders, magnetic track contacts, custom control panels, etc.) so it’s a good thing that the control boxes are sold separately.
Each PIKO 35260 Switch Control Box operates up to 4 switch machines or other similar devices. The boxes can be “ganged” together in a row to make an impressive control panel. 35261 On/Off Control Boxes (for lights, track power, etc) are also available. The PIKO switch control boxes and 35271 Switch Machines operate on the same principle as the established LGB 2-wire system and they are fully compatible as replacements or add-ons. You can bolt a new weatherproof (and insect proof!) PIKO machine right onto an old LGB switch.
I have head from a few consumers that they had some difficulty finding these PIKO items at their usual retailer. Rest assured, these are all in plentiful and steady supply at PIKO America. A call to 877-678-4449 or 619-280-2800 will yield info on some American retailers who will be glad to supply these products. Realistically, no retailer can stock everything. But most retailers who know that a customer is serious about buying an item will do whatever they can to fill the request promptly.
