Pink Foam Insulation Adhesive

Tried the Alex Plus from DAP and I have a solid set in twelve hours. Thanks for the right product sugestion. Also found a very hard to find motor control switch in Springfield, MA for my Delta Band Saw and it is on it’s way by UPS. Things are looking up and forward again. Doug

Doug,

Glad the DAP caulk worked for you. One of the tricks for applying caulk/glue to large flat surfaces to be stuck together is to not apply it in a large circle around the edges of the pieces. Apply it in a zigzag pattern so there is always contact between the outside air and all of the applied caulk/glue. If you apply a solid bead of caulk/glue around the outside edges of the pieces this will create a barrier to the penetration of air from the outside. Remerber, you don’t need a large amount of the caulk/glue since all you’re trying to do is pervent horizontal sliding between the pieces. You don’t have to worry about vertical separation.

I’m sure you realize that foam board can be cut with a hand-held jig saw. Just have a shop vac ready to suck up all the dust created.

Hope this helps,

Bob

Liquid nails has product called “Projects and Foam”. it worked very well for me.

Good luck.

On pink insulation foam, I use a product called “Hold The Foam” from Michaels. Washes up with warm water and unless you take a chisel to the pieces, they aren’t coming apart.

Thanks for the application insight Bob on the caulk. I have a complete wood shop and my Band Saw problem had nothing to do with the foam. I was just venting about the switch failure on my saw. Doug
