Plastic kits on my G&U model raileoad

I have five FSM kits, several AMB kits, and twelve scratch built structures on my 12’ X 12’ Grafton & Upton HO scale model railroad. The remaining buildings in Grafton city are ordinary DPM and City Classics plastic kits acquired decades ago which have recently found a welcome home on my layout. They provide the necessary role of filling in the spaces between my more complex treasures, and provide a wonderful variety for a layout through color choices and added details.

I have just completed a new “Shaky Cam Productions” video tour of my collection of plastic structures which you may find interesting. It can be seen here:

Very nice work, rjosselyn!

Thank you very much, York. I appreciate it.

I have many of the same DPM, City Classics etc. kits - the judicious use of a variety of colors really spruces things up!

They have worked well for me, as you can see in the video.

I have a few of these same kits and, alas, they don’t look anything like yours. In fact, some have been “retired”. Nicely done Rich.

Regards, Chris

I bought these kits over 25 years ago, but just built them in the past five years. By

that time I had built four FSM kits and won second prize with one at the 2011 Finescale Modelers Expo. That experience made me realize I had to treat even a lowly DPM kit as if it were an FSM kit. I used LEDs to light the interiors and pasted pictures of appropriate interior shots you can see through the windows.
