PLYWOOD PREP

Greetings again

I was wondering if any of you use a wood filler or putty to cover any cracks or tiny gaps in your plywood?
Was thinking of borrowing a belt sander and smoothing the whole layout top before painting it and putting down cork

If you didn’t buy the pre-sanded plywood, filling and sanding would be the best bet.

Why bother, it will be covered with scenery material anyway. Even flat paint looks better on a rough surface and a little ground foam covers all the bad stuff. I would save the time and the mess and spend the sanding belt budget on another bottle of ground foam.

Well I already putty’d the gaps
but as I was doing it I was wondering what John Allen and ther other old timers did. Pre sanded plywood wasnt heard of I am sure. Oh well a few hours of drying and I will sand vacuumn and paint.

ARTHILL - You would use pre-sanded plywood for the same reason you sand the top of your cork roadbed - so you have a LEVEL surface to lay your track on.
