Does anyone know if you can set up an auto reversing Point to Point Trolley run on a DCC layout? After some research it appears that the Bachmann autoreversing track and the Miniatronics RU1-1 and RU2-1 units both run on DC circuits. Is there a way of doing this on a DCC layout?
Why would you need dcc for that? If the trolley line is not connected to the railroad why waste a decoder on the trolley plus the dcc reverser if it exists. I would use a cheap train set power pack and the Bachman reverser. For dcc I would use return loops and a polarity reverser on each end.
I received a DCC equipped trolley for Christmas… I have a DCC system and can power from one power section of my main BUS I can run it has a loop but would be better to run as a point to point.
I suppose there is a way to have two short ends with reversed polarity and use one of the modules used for return loops in the center. That way when the module sensed the short circuit it would flip the current direction in the center. Since I don’t have dcc you should ask this on the electronics forum.
