Poll - What is most important on your railroad.

Is super detailed track a high proirity on your pike? Is modeling a specific era and prototype what you are all about? Our hobby allows for many diverse and appropriate approaches to model railroads.

I spent the last couple of days brainstorming a poll on this very topic.

For me: Rock solid track work. If it’s frustrating to run, it won’t run very often…literally and figuratively.

Tom

I have to agree with tstage rock solid track. That is the basics of a good layout. Dave

Continous running, keeping costs down and doing it my way. That’s what’s important to me.

For me bullet proof track work and trouble free operation to include zero derailments…I will not accept anything less.

yes by all mean’s the track must be trouble free and imo the coupler’s must be at the proper height.terry…

Yes track must be trouble free but you know how track is on CSX.

without a doubt; dependable track laying, consistantly powered track with no problems and keeping the hobby a fun project without it turning into work.

michael

esspee for me

Low maintainance including good track work and dust control so cleaning is less frequent. I agree that if you have to spend too much time cleaning up the track then you tend not to run it.

Yes, flawless track is important, but dosn’t anyone else enjoy "Playing Trains With The (grand)kids!!![:D]

Every little detail of everything is important to me on my layout!..

Tracklayer, God of model railroading and many other things.

Ivan,

Brandon was over this after noon, it is so amazing to see that little fellow only 2 loving trains the way he does. I asked him to say 2737 and he thought a minute and said no. It was just to hard to say. Grandpa melts when he is here.

Actually it is exhaustion from trying to keep up with him.

one small three letter word FUN what else matters

Hi Joe…for me its bullet proof track, mountain scenery, scrach building a bridge or two, building a helix and four swing ups, and most importent watching my two grandkids faces as they get into running trains. If any of you guys havent visited Joe Daddys site, It is very impressive, has a lot of great topics…John

Power!!! [:P] Actually…just running trains.

It’s important to me to be able to operate my layout as if it really was a transportation company. So, I have industries shipping various commodities to other industries or to interchanges. Inbound carloads come from connecting roads or other on-line shippers. Add some passenger trains that include express and mail cars, and I’ve got what counts to me.

When not operating, I have “running sessions” where any train goes without switching and so on.

Me too

In order to enjoy anything in your layout, bullet proof trackwork just has to be #1. You don’t have fun when you have derailments every run, you can’t take pride in your work when you show off your pike if cars derail every run.

TRACK WORK RULES…ALL ELSE DROOLS!!!

For me it’s the fact it is there. It is my stress relief and I can do what ever I want! If I want to make a few tree ok. Run some trains great. I guess i like scenery and weathering cars.

I see a lot of people have mentioned that there track work is there most improtant portion of there layout. Well, I do agree But I have another thing that I am a little up on. I am constructing one of the Milwaukee’s Passenger trains. The Afternoon Hiawatha. So for me, the most important thing in my layout is that passenger train. I want the windows to be correct and I just want it to look good. But then again, I do want to run it, so the track had better be good.[;)]

Happy railroading[(-D]
