Polyscale replacement

Anyone have a suggestion on a suitable acrylic (for airbrushing) replacement to Polyscale RR Tie brown? Just about ready to paint track and Polyscale gets discontinued.

Shop around at various online stores. It was discontinued but it’s still out there.

JS,

One thing,is for certain,it’s not the End of The World,Try mixing your own,some red,some black,who know’s,you may come up with a color,you like better…

I’m new to airbrushing and this will be my first project. Mixing colors is not what I really want to do right now.

Jim,

Whatever you feel you are comfortable with, but mixing paint is not all that hard, and you still have to practice on the best, paint to thinner ratio when you air brush…

Cheers,

Frank

Jim,

Here are two colors that may work for you that may be available at your local hobby shop. Keep in mind that “railroad ties” actually vary greatly in hue depending upon location, maintenance, weather, neglect, etc.

Model Master Acryl - Burnt Sienna SKU #4607

Model Master Acryl - Burnt Umber SKU #4605.

If you’re painting over black ties, you may want to apply a gray primer, tinted slightly with red or yellow. Don’t be afraid to experiment…it’s fun! I was initially nervous when I first started painting models in my teen years but once I started mixing colors, I really started to enjoy painting. [Y][8D]

Hi!
Just an alert.

You may NOT find what you are looking for.

I know you say you don’t want to mix paints, but IF and/or WHEN you do, be SURE to write down the “recipie” of any you mix!

Example: 5 drops burnt umber, 3 drops dull gray, 1 drop grimy black

Then when you run out, and it is guaranteed that if it works, you WILL run out, you can recreate it again with matching results.

Thanks for the responses. I was able to find a dealer and took the last of his RR Tie Brown - enough, I hope, to complete the project.

Jim

For airbrushing - Tamiya.

For brush painting - Vallejo.
