Here is a photo of my popcorn cieling texture over plaster. Fpr me me gives a covered rock effect I like for this portion of my layout.
I used an earth tone light broun on all the scenery, and to get the different color effect I used very very thin washes of Wally World cheeeeep acryclics in a camio effect.
Using a one inch wide wet brush and a slight (very slight ) bit of paint, giving a thin wash, not overlapping any area on the fist coat, then overlaping with different colors and a slight hint of paines grey in shadowed areas
Its a different technique and I thought I would share it.
The forground is a mess and I will scenic the track and the lower areas later, John
John - it looks fine to me, although I’m not too sure what you mean by popcorn ceiling texture. Some kind of heavy plaster? We used to have stuff called polytex here [maybe we still do] that could be applied to walls with a roller.
Hi Mike. Popcorn cielin texture is a spackle effect used for spot repairs of walls and cielins. Found in most hardware stores in a spray can. Usually has three plastic tube of different sizes for different effects. Is a bit messy due to the splatter, but I like it.,John
It’s a textured paint that leaves little bumps or nubs (not sure if there’s an equivalent in Australian English). It’s popular for hiding wall and / or ceiling defects if you can’t / won’t redo the wallboard (what we call “drywall”) or plaster.
